teen pregnancy free for all

Wherever I look today on websites, the television at the gym, blogs, etc teen pregnancy shows are everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE! Teen pregnancy seems to be a "trend" in the media... more and more people prevalent in the public eye seem to be making a trip to the maternity section even if they haven't taken a trip to the DMV.

1. There was a Secret Life of an American Teenager marathon on at the gym, and from the sub titles all the teens at this typical American high school could talk about was who was having a baby. Was I the only one that went to a High School that no girl was clearly pregnant ?

2. Dr. Phil's show today was Child of a Child, a take on young teen mothers, who are clearly still children, raising their own children. I saw ten minutes of this show and had to turn it. The so called mothers on the show who ranged from the ages of 16 to 18 all lived with their parents and seemed to neglect their children or duties that may be part of motherhood.

3. My all time favorite teen pregnancy/ mom show has to be.... TEEN MOM. Now this season is basically a shot to the head to watch compared to the previous Teen Mom series, but it still brings drama, excitement, and horror. As I caught up on my gossip websites this afternoon headlines of "Teen Mom Janelle Evans in a Brawl", was all over Perez, People, E!, Us. Now this is no surprise to me, Janelle and her boyfriend Kiefer stink of trouble.

Is it me or have there never been so many teen pregnancy shows on television before? Unplanned teen pregnancy is very prevalent in the United States, but what message are these shows telling?
I have to wonder if all of these shows scripted, talk shows, as well as reality shows, are providing any message whether negative or positive?

amigos

i couldn't go through my daily life with out my friends. old, new, young and old. i love my friends and will continue to make friends throughout my life (well i hope so) i have always been a very outgoing person making friends in the most random places and hold every friendship close to my heart.

GO ZAGS!

As a broadcast media student I can thoroughly appreciate this video, and am sort of obsessed. the footage, the editing is great put also the passion of Gonzaga Basketball.... Men are out of the tourney but the Women are still dancing !

-parental units-

thanks to school and a busy social life i have not posted on my blog in two weeks! eeekkkkk
need this time to get out some stress!

on to the topic....
I have a very close relationship with my mom. Being the only girl with two older brothers, I grew up always hanging out with my mom at bunco games, auction meetings, the grocery store, and now the athletic club where gossip among 40 year old women spreads faster than Gonzaga!   My mom and I are very differently physically she is 5'4, petite, with no bossums, and I am close to 5'10 and well, well endowed. As i got older and my brothers were at college and my dad traveled (250 + days of the year) my mom and grew closer and developed a friend relationship but at the same time i can turn to my mom for anything including celebrity gossip.

Now I do not know when my fascination started with popular culture and celebrity culture, I have a book on Prince William from 6th grade, so maybe then? All of my friends know (and probably some teachers) that i love love love popular culture. At first everyone laughed at me saying it is dumb that you know so much about celebrities but do not know all of the elements of the periodic table.... but I have geared my college and hopefully post undergrad work in popular culture.

Right now my parents are in Los Angeles staying at a nice hotel in Beverly Hills where many celebrities and crew stay on a nightly basis. Where am I... in Spokane. I wish I could hop off the plane at LAX but that is not in the cards right now.

Now my mom and I discuss pop culture an odd amount for her age... as she once texted me about  Chuck Bass' eyebrows. Comments like that sometimes make me wonder about her.

When I was home for Spring Break a few weeks ago we had quite the routine of watching some show on Bravo each and every night, (Bravo is my thing. In love with Andy Cohen) then discuss the nights episode(s) afterwards.

Never before had I noticed that my own mother, was so into popular culture as much as me. Had she created this monster, or vise-versa? Yes we did watch Entertainment Tonight a lot when my dad/brothers were out of town before dinner.... but recently I have been asking myself, am I turning into my mother as I did laundry this afternoon and watched Oprah, or is she living vicariously through her almost 21 year old daughter?

example : text I recieved from my mom at 12:10 this afternoon: OMG on elliptical next to Mick Jaggar!!!!!

pray for japan

Words cannot describe how saddened I am by everything that is happening in Japan. I continue to pray for the people that are missing, their families, those who experienced the earthquake and tsunami as well as those who unfortunately were killed in this terrible act of mother nature. We need to not only pray but act and help hundreds of thousands who have been and continue to be affected by this tragedy.

Follow World Vision's blog for updates, and visit its website or text "4japan" to 20222 to send a $10 donation to the group. It will show up on your next mobile phone bill.

The American Red Cross sent a disaster expert from Washington to Japan on Monday and the Japanese Red Cross has dispatched dozens of response teams. If you'd like to donate to the Red Cross efforts, text "redcross" to 90999, and you can make a $10 donation to the organization.

vinchenzo

I am a die hard Jersey Shore fan. Yes, I know some people have a look of disgust when they hear anyone talk about the Shore, but me, I find the show amusing. The one liners and sayings that some of the characters on the show reuse over and over again have become iconic in the past year. "Cabs are here" "T shirt time" "GTL" just to name a few.

I recently stumbled upon Vinny's blog and god I am more in love with him than I was before. He is the most intelligent and presents himself in the best manner and at the same time likes to have fun at the shore. Reading Vinny's blog posts I found myself laughing and was able to see the true man behind the reality star.

who is watching dancing with the stars....?

The new season of Dancing with the Stars premiers March 21st on ABC. I have to wonder for a second who in the world is going to watch this season! Yes I know Brooke Burke draws in millions with her fabulous body and gregarious personality, but who really wants to see Kristie Alley do high kicks?

These "stars" were certainly not present at the Academy Awards, and most were somewhat A list before I was born. Romeo and Kendra will draw in the younger crowds, as Kendra is the projected winner. Wendy Williams will for sure put on a show and bring drama, but is it me and is this show DONE and DONE.

At least we get to see fabulous dressed from Brooke week after week!

spring into spring

I can't wait wait wait for warmer weather. Here in the pacific northwest spring may not be the same as other parts of the world, as we don't usually see above 60 degrees until may, but this years april showers bring may flowers and beautiful clothes full of vibrant colors, the most crisp whites, feminine lace, as well as a trip back to the 1970's

can these two be more perfect?

 look at those loubs!

Here they are. Hip Hop's royal couple. She's got the sass and the curves that stopped this once bad boy. Together between them they are worth over $650 million dollars and are expanding their fortune on a daily basis.
I found this photo this morning of the couple attending a NJ Nets game last night.
Happy, laughing, enjoying each others company...
In Hollywood, New York, Chicago, Des Moines and everywhere in between it is so hard to see happy couples in this day in age, and especially in the show business.
Its comforting to see this couple who deal with the paparazzi, stockers, and the pressure of being in the lime light being able to be themselves as a happily married couple.

I just want them to have kids already!
